Paparua Stream ecological restoration

Yaldhurst, Christchurch

Glasson Huxtable were engaged to plan the ecological restoration for the relocated Paparua Stream in Yaldhurst. Working with Ecan and CCC ecologists, we worked to create a suitable habitat for the Upland Bully, a native fish that spawns and lives in the stream catchment.

We worked to create areas suitable for shade, egg laying, and used suitable local ecosourced native riparian plants and trees. Features included logs, baffles riffles to vary water movement and deeper pools to create slow-moving water areas.

Our involvement was from concept to detailed design and management of the landscape construction for this project.
