Hanmer Residence

Hurunui District, Canterbury

The architecture and materials of the house draws on the context of the alpine environment of Hanmer Springs. Timber and stone were used to provide warmth and integrity to the building design and landscape elements. An informal layout using mass-planting of native species was used and a successful result has taken place where the plant material is becoming well-established and suited to both climate and context.
