Port Gore is a very large and remote bay in the Marlborough Sounds. It is notable for the sinking of the ocean liner the Mikhail Lermantov. Due to the bay's size, these coastal areas have been the subject of several mussel farm site proposals. We have undertaken landscape assessments for potential sites and the renewal of existing sites at Pool Head, Gannet Point, Waimatete, Kaitangitata and Pig Bay, all of which have been debated in Council or Environment Court hearings.
